BIX Card Cardholder Agreement

Terms governing the use of BIX-branded Visa debit cards.

BIX Card Cardholder Agreement

This BIX Card Cardholder Agreement ("Cardholder Agreement") governs your use of any BIX-branded Visa debit card, whether virtual or physical (the "Card").

This Cardholder Agreement is entered into between you ("you" or "Cardholder") and Bit1 Ventures S.A. ("Bit1," "BIX," "we," "us," or "our"), as the operator of the BIX platform and program manager for BIX card services. Card issuance and transaction processing are performed through third-party financial institutions and processing partners participating in the Visa network (the "Program Partners").

By requesting, activating, using, or allowing another person to use a Card, you agree to this Cardholder Agreement.

1) Key concepts

  • The Card is a debit card linked to your BIX account.

  • Card spending is funded by value available in your BIX account.

  • When you fund your BIX account with crypto assets, spending generally requires conversion to a fiat amount at the time of authorization or settlement, as described below.

2) Eligibility and issuance

We may require identity verification and additional checks before issuing or continuing to provide a Card.

You must keep your personal details accurate and current. You authorize us and Program Partners to verify your identity and eligibility.

3) Virtual and physical Cards

  • Virtual Card: available for online use and, where supported, digital wallets.

  • Physical Card: available for in-person use, ATM withdrawals, and other supported channels.

We may support features such as contactless, tokenization, and digital wallet provisioning, subject to device compatibility and third-party rules.

4) Funding, conversion, and authorizations

4.1 Funding sources

The Card is funded through value available in your BIX account. Your BIX account may be funded by crypto assets and, where available, fiat.

4.2 Authorization holds

When you attempt a Card transaction, the merchant or ATM operator requests authorization. If approved, an authorization hold may be placed for the transaction amount plus any additional amounts merchants commonly request (for example, tips, deposits, or estimated totals).

Authorization holds reduce available balance until the final transaction posts or the hold is released.

4.3 Conversion and pricing

If conversion from crypto to fiat is required for a Card transaction, the conversion rate applied may reflect:

  • Market rates at the time of authorization and/or settlement.

  • Spreads or markups disclosed in the BIX interface.

  • Network and processing costs.

Because settlement can occur after authorization, the final posted amount can differ from the authorized amount.

4.4 Merchant categories and limitations

Some merchants and transaction types may be restricted, including where required by Visa rules, Program Partner requirements, or compliance policies.

5) Using the Card

You agree to:

  • Use the Card only for lawful purposes.

  • Not use the Card for prohibited activities.

  • Keep the Card and credentials secure.

  • Notify us promptly if the Card is lost, stolen, compromised, or used without authorization.

You are responsible for transactions you authorize and for transactions resulting from your failure to safeguard the Card or credentials.

6) Limits

We may impose limits on:

  • Card spending per transaction, per day, and per month.

  • ATM withdrawals.

  • Number of Cards and replacements.

Limits may vary by verification level, risk controls, jurisdiction, and Program Partner requirements. Applicable limits are shown in the BIX interface.

7) Fees

You agree to pay all fees applicable to Card use. Fees may include:

  • Card issuance or replacement fees.

  • ATM withdrawal fees.

  • Foreign transaction fees and currency conversion markups.

  • Decline fees (where permitted).

  • Expedited shipping fees (for physical Cards).

  • Inactivity or dormancy fees (where permitted).

Fees and the method of calculation are disclosed in the BIX interface or associated fee disclosures before you complete an action, and may be updated as permitted by law.

8) Receipts, statements, and notices

You can view Card transactions and related activity through the BIX app. You agree that electronic records in the app constitute your statement for Card activity.

You must review transactions promptly and report issues within the timeframes described below.

9) Errors, disputes, and chargebacks

9.1 Reporting unauthorized transactions

If you believe a Card transaction is unauthorized, notify us immediately at legal@bix.fienvelope and through available in-app support channels.

Your delay in reporting can increase losses and may affect your ability to recover funds, subject to applicable law and card network rules.

9.2 Disputes and chargebacks

If you dispute a Card transaction (for example, goods not received or services not rendered), you should first attempt to resolve the matter with the merchant.

If the merchant does not resolve the issue, you may request a dispute/chargeback review. You must provide requested documentation. Outcomes depend on Visa rules, merchant/acquirer responses, and Program Partner processes.

9.3 Time limits

Dispute rights are time-sensitive. You must initiate disputes promptly after the transaction posts. Late submissions may be rejected.

10) Card suspension, termination, and program changes

We may decline transactions, suspend, or terminate the Card or your access to card features if we reasonably believe that:

  • Your activity violates this Cardholder Agreement, our Terms of Use, or applicable law.

  • Your activity presents fraud, security, or compliance risk.

  • We are required to do so by Program Partners, Visa rules, or regulators.

We may change card features, limits, and fee structures. Where required, we will provide notice.

11) Communications and e-sign

You agree to receive required card disclosures and communications electronically, subject to our E-Sign Consent Notice.

12) Privacy

Your use of the Card involves processing of personal data for transaction processing, compliance, and fraud prevention. See our Privacy Policy for details.

13) Governing law and dispute resolution

This Cardholder Agreement is governed by the laws of El Salvador, without regard to conflict of law rules.

Disputes are subject to the arbitration provisions in the Terms of Use, unless prohibited by applicable law.
